Tailwaters lodge, in partnership with Catering by Catherine, is proud to offer a variety of food options for you – ranging from meals prepared directly by a private chef to meals dropped off at your cabin, or just simply making sure your cabin is stocked with food! Choose one or more options over the course of your stay; for example, enjoy a meal prepared by a private chef one evening and have a prepared meal dropped off for the second. Set your meals to fit your need, and all your meals will be enjoyed in the privacy and comfort of your cabin. Or, if you prefer to not use our catering services, then the Food City Grocery store is only five miles away. All our cabins have well-appointed kitchens if you want to prepare your own meals.
All of our catering needs are provided by Catering by Catherine located in Abingdon, VA, and owned by Catherine Elliott. Catherine’s experience includes catering for a ranch in Colorado, as well as catering for the prestigious Masters PGA golf tournament. She has been in the catering business for over 25 years. Catherine has a creative, cohesive team to provide a seamless, delicious experience for you.

When I first began cooking for friends, family, or co-workers I was doing it to bring people together for professional networking purposes, celebrating someone's birthday, or welcoming someone new to the office. I took charge of more events and made myself responsible for the kind of experience people wanted to have.
My approach to catering has evolved as I earned a degree in the culinary arts, built up 20 years of culinary experience, and started Catering By Catherine in 2013. I have been very fortunate to find a team of catering assistants who feel strongly about our approach and creating the appropriate setting and atmosphere for particular events. Seamless service coupled with delicious food is what has kept this business thriving and growing for years.”
Your private chef will either grill or prepare a delicious meal at your cabin depending on your choice. Chefs provide all table set-up and clean-up. Your chef will arrive at 5 pm to begin set-up, offer your dinner at 6 pm, and then depart by 7 pm. A gratuity is appreciated, but not expected. Choose from:
